Changing Conditions in a Changing World: The comparative analysis of health, morbidity, and mortality

Call for Papers for the workshop of the EAPS Health, Morbidity, and Mortality Working Group

Location: Budapest, Hungary.

Dates: 20-22 September, 2023

Form: Hybrid, however on-site is preferred

Theme:Changing conditions in a changing World: Comparative analysis of health, morbidity, and mortality”

Deadline for abstracts: 15th April, 2023 (decision about acceptance before 31st May, 2023)

We live in a turbulent world with many challenges, not only for our lives but also for our work. The recent epidemic (which is still not completely over!) has shown that the continued decline in mortality over the past half century cannot be taken for granted. However, in order to understand, and evaluate, these processes properly, we need good, comparative analyses: between countries, between regions and between social and ethnic groups. The upcoming workshop will create a forum where issues related to the comparative analysis of health, morbidity, and mortality can be discussed from many perspectives: methodologies and applications; geography and environment; history; migration and marginalisation; short and long term trends and transition; age, sex, and population structures, and much more.

Please submit a short abstract, limit 250 words, to hmmwg.eaps@gmail.com by 15th April, 2023. If you prefer to present a poster, please let us know. As usual, there is no registration fee but participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation. Our thanks to the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute in Budapest for hosting and supporting this meeting.
