EU citizens can have a standard valid document for travelling through EU countries. Citizens of some countries will be required to have an entrance visa. Public transport
Public transport in Prague is coordinated by Prague Public Transport Company (Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy). It consists of buses, metro, trams and ferries on few places of the Vltava river. Tickets with four different periods of validity are available:

  • 30 minutes – 30 CZK
  • 90 minutes – 40 CZK
  • 24 hours – 120 CZK
  • 72 hours – 330 CZK

All tickets are transfer tickets, it means that you are allowed to change between different kinds of transport (bus, metro, tram, …). A ticket must be validated in one of the orange validators (at the entrance to the metro, on the tram or bus) when entering the first mean of transport. You can buy tickets in ticket machines at metro stations, public transport information centres, most tobacconists, some supermarkets, at the airport or at railway stations etc., see here for more information.

The public transport stops closest to the venue are

  • tram stop Albertov: trams number 3, 14, 18, 24.

Still within a walking distance (10–15 minutes) there are also two metro stations:

  • Karlovo náměstí: metro line B (yellow);
  • Karlovo náměstí (from Palackého náměstí): metro line B (yellow).

The public transport is quite reliable and safe – safe to the extent as any Capital City may be, but certainly not safer. Especially, beware of pickpockets! They are in action in the most frequented places as the Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí), the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží) and on metro stations and metro trains in the city centre. Also, some tram lines have a bad reputation – No. 22 going through the centre. Always try not to be alone when using trams at late night.

Coming by air
The code of Praha – Ruzyně international airport is PRG. There are two terminals at the airport (with only about 5 minutes walking distance between them) that deal with public international flights. All flights from Schengen countries arrive at Terminal 2 and all other flights arrive at Terminal 1.

The way from the airport to the conference venue:

  • Fix Taxi or Taxi Praha. Official taxi stands are located in front of the airport arriving halls of both terminals. Travel time: 20 – 30 minutes, depending on the traffic conditions. Price to the venue area: about 400 – 600 CZK
  • Bolt/Uber – this works in Prague also 🙂
  • Airport Express (AE) bus to the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží) stop. From there, the venue is in the walking distance. During the day, the Airport Express leaves the airport every 30 minutes. Travel time: 35 – 45 minutes to the Main Railway Station. Price: 100 CZK, the tickets are purchased directly from the driver. Standard public transport tickets are not valid there!
  • Public transport to the City Centre. There are two reasonable, more or less equally time consuming options.
  • Bus number 119 from the airport to Nádraží Veleslavín, metro line A station (the final stop of the bus, the station of the metro line A). Then take metro line A (green) to station Můstek (on the lower part of the Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)). Here you should change line to B (direction to Zličín) and take exit at station Karlovo náměstí. From here you can walk (around 15min.) or you can take tram 3, 14, 18, 24 to station Albertov.
  • Bus number 100 from the airport to Zličín, metro line B station (the final stop of the bus, the first station of the metro line B). Then take metro line B (yellow) to station Náměstí Republiky and ttake exit at station Karlovo náměstí. From here you can walk (around 15min.) or you can take tram 3, 14, 18, 24 to station Albertov.

Travel time: about 45 minutes with considerably lower variability than both taxi and AE. Price: 40 CZK (90 minutes ticket), 24 hours or 72 hours ticket can be used as well.
